Abstract

In order to observe the immunological changes, an animal model of experimental autoimmune sensorineural hearing loss was created by using the guinea pig's inner ear as an antigen. The results showed that the endolymphatic hydrops and distension of the Reissner's membrane appeared in the models. Disturbance and loss of the stereocilia can also be seen. Two weeks after immunization, the mean of ABR thresholds was significantly elevated by comparing with the preimmunization (P < 0.01). The elevation of the ABR thresholds was associated with the pathological changes. After immunization, the T lymphocyte transform function was much different from that of the normal state. CIC was also elevated significantly after immunization.
