J Family Med Prim Care. 2024 Nov;13(11):5370-5373. doi: 10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_533_24. Epub 2024 Nov 18.

Abstract

We report an interesting case of Bancroftian filariasis diagnosed on fine needle aspiration cytology in a young female hailing from a non-endemic hilly area of India, who presented with a subcutaneous swelling on the left forearm. This is an unusual extra-lymphatic site to harbor filarial infestation and the cytology smears showed adult worms, eggs, and microfilariae of Wuchereria bancrofti.
