Four alkaloid compounds including one new compound and three known ones were isolated and extracted from the 70% ethanol extract of Nelumbinis Folium by silica gel column chromatography, octadecylsilyl(ODS) column chromatography and preparative high-performance liquid chromatography. Their structures were identified by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, high-resolution mass spectrometry, circular dichroism and other methods. Compound 1 was identified as a new compound and named as lotustine B(1). Compounds 2-4 were identified as nuciferin(2), dehydronuciferine(3), N-methylasimilobine(4). The effects of four isolated alkaloid compounds on total cholesterol(TC) and total triglycerides(TG) levels were evaluated by constructing a human hepatoma(HepG2) cell model of hyperlipidemia. The hypolipidemic effects of compounds 1-4 were also evaluated using oil red O staining experi-ments. The results showed that compound 4 can reduce the lipid levels of HepG2 cells and has potential hypolipidemic effects.
