Social factors associated with aspirin desensitization and diagnosis age in aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease

Int Forum Allergy Rhinol. 2025 Jan;15(1):89-92. doi: 10.1002/alr.23485. Epub 2024 Nov 27.

Abstract

Racial disparities influence the completion of aspirin (ASA) desensitization and ASA-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD) diagnosis age. Public insurance correlates with an official AERD diagnosis after age 50. Social factors, including race and insurance status, impact AERD diagnosis and adherence to ASA desensitization.

Keywords: ASA desensitization; Samter's triad; area deprivation index (ADI); aspirin‐exacerbated respiratory disease; late diagnosis; social vulnerability index (SVI); treatment adherence.
