Mo Med. 1989 Nov;86(11):741-3.

Abstract

Zidovudine, or azidothymidine (AZT), is the only drug currently approved for treating patients with HIV infection. Though it effectively inhibits the disease, the drug's use is associated with a number of side effects, some grave. Management of zidovudine therapy and its side effects is highlighted. This is the third article in a series from the Washington University AIDS Clinical Trials Unit.
