Synthesis of a bicyclic diborane by selective boron carbon bond formation

Abstract

The bicyclic diboron species was generated with high selectivity by a combination of boron carbon bond formation and hydrogen iodide elimination events. The nature of the boracycle was evaluated using X-ray diffraction, NMR spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations.
