Abstract

Objective: To explore how health management of short-term weight intervention affects glycolipid metabolism of patients with type II diabetes.

Methods: Overweight or obese type II diabetes mellitus patients were under weight intervention for 45 days with health management model and the epidemiologic method of self control.

Results: Compared with before intervention, the levels of both fasting blood-glucose (FBG) and blood-glucose 2 hours after meal, weight, BMI, waistline, hip circumference and upper arm circumference of the patients after intervention lowered significantly (P < 0.05), levels of serum TC, HDL-C, LDL-C increased obviously (P < 0.05), and TG levels did not change significantly.

Conclusions: Due to the particularity of their blood lipid metabolism mentioned above, when carrying out health management of short-term weight intervention on patients with type II diabetes.
