Background: This study focused on using the mandibular outer cortex for orbital and maxillary augmentation of oblique facial clefts.
Methods: Eight oblique facial clefts were reconstructed with the mandibular outer cortex from April 2000 to April 2008.
Results: No visible scars and few complications were observed at the donor site. Postoperative follow-up for 6 months to 3 years demonstrated that all of the patients had good aesthetic facial appearances.
Conclusions: The mandibular outer cortex can be used for orbital and maxillary augmentation of oblique facial clefts.
