Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TCM) is often preceded by exposure to emotional or physical stressors, although all precipitant stressors remain unidentified and the relationship between TCM and epileptic seizure is not understood in detail. Furthermore, despite the generally good prognosis of TCM, complications such as thrombus formation and thromboembolism can be severe. This case report describes a 68 year-old woman admitted to our hospital with epileptic seizure and TCM. Three days after admission, follow-up echocardiography revealed a giant thrombus at the apex of the left ventricle. This rare example of TCM was associated with epileptic seizure complicated with the rapid formation of apical thrombus.
