Abstract

The diagnosis of diarrhea predominant irritable bowel syndrome (D-IBS) should be a positive diagnosis, based on Rome criteria, and not a diagnosis of exclusion. However, it is in this situation that investigations are frequently performed. But full and complete explorations are not systematically required as they are frequently normal, and normal results do not have a positive influence on symptom evolution. Treatment of D-IBOS is mainly based on antispasmodics and antidiarrheal agents antidepressant agent can be used.
