Abstract

Introduction: In recent years, the non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease, including those of a psychiatric nature, have been receiving greater attention from the scientific community.

Development: In this paper we analyse the pathophysiological bases underlying the different psychiatric symptoms, examining the dopaminergic and non-dopaminergic mechanisms involved, as well as the importance of the extranigral disorders that are produced from the onset of the disease.
