Histone modifications: an assembly line for active chromatin?

Curr Biol. 2003 Jan 8;13(1):R22-4. doi: 10.1016/s0960-9822(02)01383-0.

Abstract

Histone modifications play a major role in the control of genes in their natural chromatin context. A detailed, time-resolved analysis of histone modifications during gene activation has now revealed the order of appearance of particular histone modifications on a promoter during regulatory processes.
