Objective: To study the chemical constituents in the root of Rheum wittrochii.
Method: Chromatography and spectroscopic analysis to isolate and elucidate the chemical constituents in the plant.
Result: Six compounds, namely 3, 5-dihydroxy-4'-methoxystilbene; 3, 5, 4'-tridroxystilbene; piceatannol; desoxyrhaponticin; piceatannol-4'-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside; 2, 5-dimethyl-7-hydroxychromone, have been isolated from ethyl ether and ethyl acetate fractions.
Conclusion: These compounds were isolated from the title plant for the first time.
